A complex condition, but commonly found in children after playing sports or generally after periods of activity. Many children wake during the night crying or complaining of leg pains, which often respond well to massage. Childrens bone structures are generally more flexible and mobile than adults. Therefore, high activity on their feet commonly causes the muscles to over-work and may later cause muscle stiffness and pain.
ORTHAHEEL gently stabilizes the many bones and soft tissue structures in childrens feet & lower leg structures. ORTHAHEEL assists the alignment of young growing bones and greatly reduces muscle strain.
Heel Pain (Sever's Disease)
A common condition with children between the ages of 8 - 14 years. This pain occurs at the back of the heel bone often during or after sporting activity. Many Childrens bones (including the heel bone) are not fully developed (set or ossified) at this age and high activity may disrupt the growth plates causing inflammation and pain. The condition can be quite debilitating and may require (under Doctors advice) complete rest from activity.
ORTHAHEEL controls excess pronation of the foot and thereby stabilizes the heel bone and its growth plate. Stretching of the calf muscles is commonly advised.
Knee Pain (Osgood Schlatters condition)
A similar mechanism to Severs Disease (see previous condition), but occurring at the bony bump just below the knee cap (called the tibial tuberosity). The condition can be quite debilitating and may require (under Doctors advice) complete rest from activity.
ORTHAHEEL controls internal rotation of the shin bone (tibia) utilising the patented angular restraining mechanism (in the heel section. This reduces the internal rotation and stretching (tractional) forces placed on the knee joint and growth plate of the child.
